We were asked to add a sewing room to a small compact house built on the slope of a volcano. And at that moment, we assumed the full responsibility of this commission, because a client who requests a sewing room is someone who takes his life very seriously.

We decided to locate the sewing room attached to an old existing wall on the north-western limit of the plot, taking over the buttresses that underpin it to support the structure of the new volume and organise the space. With a perfect south orientation, we worked on this project section in detail to optimise the views, the summer and winter sunlight exposure and the cross ventilation.

The Little Prince says that the essential is invisible to the eye. The sewing room is an essential project, both for its creative and vital use and for its noble and sincere materiality. May its humble presence also make it appear silent before our eyes.
