The location chosen for this house is a corner plot, rectangular and flat in a small rural urbanization in the Vall de Bianya (Girona). And a young couple are our clients. They imagine a house to live in and raise their future children, to work in, to be with family and friends… In short, a home.

On a simple structural grid conceived from the trial and error method, we propose to rationalize the complexity of this life and this place. With a scheme of pillars located at the intersections of the grid we support the formalization of a series of gabled volumes that are equivalent, discontinuous, constructively traditional and functionally interchangeable. These volumes must accommodate the different established needs: from the common spaces to the rooms and services, including a garage or a work space on the first floor.

And it turns out that the construction of the house begins simultaneously with the gestation of a new life, a fact that makes us feel the meaning of this job of ours at first hand. Because among the boxes that have been unloaded into the new house there are already eyes wide open, Juna’s eyes.
